The content of this paper details the computational performance art piece ‘Becoming a Tomato – A Computational Performance’ by Lapa Pareira. In “Becoming Performance”, two performers aim to develop non-linear strategy synchronise their experiential framework that tomato plant. Through observation, research and methodology, ruleset actions reactions originated. The three main parts relate an ideation process where phenomenon black-boxing is used only observe In- Outputs plant its reactions/adjustments. Thereby, de-familiarization as common nourishing co-existing agent becomes opaque unknown. Using artistic approaches material speculation performance, Aristotelian notions hierarchies life are rejected viewing perceptive realm not through reductive lens but rather augmentation senses brought forth limitation other senses.
